About ScrapyardIO
-----------------

[](#about-scrapyardio)

Like playing with sensors and servos? Saw those tutorials that use CircuitPython or C and just didn't feel like learning a whole new language for the whole ordeal? Well look no further! ScrapyardIO is an embedded applications framework, that doesn't drift very far from Laravel's expressive, elegant syntax. There's simply no reason if Python can do it that PHP cant! After all, PHP is way faster than Python, and Python needs to be extended for embedded development. So we did that, too. ScrapyardIO will take the pain out of playing with servos, displays, sensors and other cool gadgets that speak I2C, SPI, UART or plain ol on/off bit banging across a GPIO, or any bus really. As long as you have a Mac or Linux Desktop PC with a USB-to-Serial device, or even better a Raspberry Pi, Jetson Orin Nano or any or Linux SBC with an exposed GPIO bus, you can make PHP drive integrated circuits for an extremely satisfying experience!

Because ScrapyardIO is very Laravel-like, it retains the former's predictable structure and conventions make it ideal for AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot. Full Disclosure: While the framework is by no means vibe-coded, AI-assistance was frequently utilized to assist in repetitive tasks. This resulted in the predictable syntax that you and an LLM model that initially thought PHP-embedded development can't be done, can work together to get to sensors reading data in minutes!

How is this calculated?**Maintenance (25%)** — Last commit recency, latest release date, and issue-to-star ratio. Uses a 2-year decay window.

**Popularity (30%)** — Total and monthly downloads, GitHub stars, and forks. Logarithmic scaling prevents top-heavy scores.

**Community (15%)** — Contributors, dependents, forks, watchers, and maintainers. Measures real ecosystem engagement.

**Maturity (30%)** — Project age, version count, PHP version support, and release stability.
